Terence Conran´s ‘Inspiration’:
"Using green oak sourced on dartmoor, this
enormous chair was made by the local woodworker
and sculptor Henry Bruce. His idea was that the
chair would draw attention to the view in the way
that an ordinary bench does, while at the same time
creating a frame for it. This, he hoped, would give
people pause to stop and appreciate the beautiful
natural surroundings. Mindful of the impact the
piece would have on the environment, he built it
using traditional mortise-and-tenon technology and
hewed it by hand."
